     Hazel M. Rein, 89, of Peoria, passed away at 3:10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at her daughter’s home.
    
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue in Peoria, with the Rev. Barry A. Long officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
    
Hazel was born on October 4, 1921 in Vandalia, a daughter of William Frederick and Grace Elizabeth (Merriman) Nave. She married Alvin J. Michel and together they owned and operated The Blue Danube and later, The Sheridan Center Tap in Peoria.
    
She later married Gerald W. Rein in November of 1960 at Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Carl and Ruben Nave; and sister, Ruby Pearl Turnbow.
    
Hazel is survived by her son, Gary A. (Donna) Michel of Sun Valley, CA; daughter, Joella A. Michel of Peoria; brother, Paul (Violet) Nave of Assumption; and grandchildren, Gary B. Billerbeck, Sheila Ann Billerbeck, Angie L. (Allen) Hamm, Tina M. Lester, Theresa L. (Jason) Mills and Todd A. Michel.
    
In 1986, she retired as a clerk in the Men’s Department at Bergner’s in downtown Peoria, after eighteen years of service.
    
Hazel was a member of Mt. Calvary Evangelical Church in Peoria and a member of the Bergner’s Retiree’s Club.
